This is the first course in a series of 12, 30-minute online courses. After completing Tip 1: Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders, a participant will be able to discuss:

• the primary characteristics of autism: what it is and its prevalence
• the behavioral characteristics of autism, including social characteristics, communicative characteristics and restrictive and repetitive behaviors
• the learning characteristics of autism, including executive functioning, Theory of Mind, joint attention, and auditory vs. visual processing
