Peer-mediated instruction is used to teach typically developing peers ways to interact with and help learners with autism acquire new social skills by increasing social opportunities within natural environments. With PMII, peers are systematically taught ways of engaging learners with autism in social interaction in both teacher-directed and learner-initiated activities.

Participants will be able to:

  • define peer-mediated instruction and intervention
  • identify what skills to teach using peer-mediated instruction and intervention
  • identify the steps for implementing peer-mediated instruction and intervention
  • locate resources.
