Full course description
In this course, we will focus on using data to problem solve within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.
This course is designed for administrators, instructional coaches, and others who may participate on a district or campus problem-solving team. However, all learners are welcome.
After engaging in this course, learners should be able to
- Describe how the different types of data we collect in MTSS can be used for problem solving across the tiers—whether in academics, behavior, or mental health.
- Set district, classroom, and student goals to identify problems.
- Set individual student goals to identify problems three ways: using an appropriate grade-level benchmark; using slope, also known as rate of improvement; and using an intra-individual framework.
- Use goals to determine response to intervention, at the campus, classroom, and student level.
- Describe how to use behavioral progress-monitoring measures to determine student response to behavioral interventions.
- Analyze problems to generate hypotheses and use data-based decision-making, including data-based individualization, to design interventions.
