Full course description
The focus of this course is to look closely at universal (Tier 1) positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS). We know that seeing a framework in action can help reinforce our effective systems and strategies as well as give us ideas for making adjustments and improvements to our implementation. This course walks us through evidence-based universal PBIS implementation and provides real-world examples from educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
This course is designed for local education agency (LEA) and campus-level educators with a working knowledge of PBIS who are looking to begin implementation or who are looking for ways to build upon and improve their current universal PBIS systems.
After engaging in this course, learners should be able to do the following:
- Identify effective team processes for PBIS.
- Create guidelines for success and corresponding expectations based on data.
- Describe how teachers can use common area, classroom, and social and personal competency lessons to connect students with one another.
- Identify effective practices for monitoring and providing positive feedback.
- Explain how the culture and climate that educators create affect students.
